Religious Education Program

The mission of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Religious Education Program is to educate the youth of our parish in the teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith. Our program provides students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of Catholic faith while developing a personal and lasting relationship with God, the Father, Jesus, His Son, and the Holy Spirit as they continue their journey of lifelong learning in the Catholic Faith.

English Religious Education — Grades 1–5

English Religious Education classes for students in Grades 1–5 are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Classes take place in the former Sacred Heart Grade School building, located across the street from the Cathedral.

Confirmation Program — Grades 6–7

The Confirmation program for students in Grades 6–7 is held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Classes take place in the former Sacred Heart Grade School building, located across the street from the Cathedral.

Students in Grades 6–7 may choose to participate in either the English or Spanish Confirmation program. Families should select their preferred language when registering.

Confirmation Program — Grades 8–Highschool

The Confirmation program for students in Grades 8–Highschool is held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the Hall of Bishops at the Cathedral.

This is a combined English/Spanish program taught in English. Accommodations will be made for students who are not able to speak English.

The Confirmation program follows the guidelines established by the Diocese of Salina. Bishop Vinke, after prayer and consultation, has determined that the Diocese will move forward with the implementation of the “restored order of the Sacraments of Initiation.” The Diocese will have four years to complete this transition.
